Out of Access databases and onto a platform built to grow

Underground diamond driller Webdrill was running client-facing data through home-grown Access databases and spreadsheets. Its IT consultants went looking for a firm to take Webdrill to the next level, and they chose OneIT.

They get their head around the concept very quickly and come back with very good questions that we never even thought of and suggesting enhancements and other ways of doing things that will make the product even better and easier to use.

The challenge

Drilling data was collected and collated across in-house Access databases and spreadsheets before going to clients. Webdrill knew that wouldn’t hold up long term.

Underground data was still captured on paper, then re-keyed once the crew got back to the surface office.

The solution

Webdrill’s IT consultants ran the selection and chose OneIT. We replaced the Access databases and spreadsheets with a single system and pushed the design further with questions and enhancements Webdrill hadn’t thought of.

The roadmap takes it underground. Crews will capture data on iPads and sync when they surface, ending double handling and getting data to clients sooner.

The benefits

A foundation that scales

Access databases and spreadsheets replaced with a system built for the long term.

Better ideas, built in

Gerard Carroll says OneIT came back with questions and enhancements Webdrill “never even thought of.”

An excellent process

“I definitely recommend OneIT to anybody. The whole process of working with OneIT has been excellent.”

What we built

Central drilling database

One system replacing in-house Access databases and spreadsheets.

Client data delivery

Collated drilling data ready to share with clients.

Underground iPad capture

On the roadmap: capture underground, sync at the surface.
